Waternation Scientific Launches PFAS-Free Water for Environmental Testing
Waternation Scientific is pleased to announce the launch of its new PFAS-Free Water range, developed specifically for environmental monitoring, regulatory testing, and analytical laboratories requiring the highest standards of trace-level purity.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) — often referred to as 'forever chemicals' — are increasingly the focus of international regulation and environmental scrutiny. As testing laboratories face ever more stringent detection thresholds, the quality of reagent water used in sample preparation and analysis has become critical to result accuracy.
What Makes It Different
Our PFAS-Free Water is manufactured under strict cleanroom conditions and subjected to multi-stage purification including reverse osmosis, UV oxidation, and ion exchange. Each production batch is analytically verified to confirm non-detectable PFAS levels using validated LC-MS/MS methodology, with full batch traceability documentation supplied as standard.
No detectable PFAS at sub-ppt detection limits
Analytical-grade purity aligned with EN ISO 3696 Grade 1
Batch certificate and CoA supplied with every order
Available in 500ml, 1L, 2.5L and 5L formats
Compatible with EPA, ASTM and EU regulatory test methods
Who Is It For?
The product is intended for environmental testing laboratories conducting PFAS monitoring in water, soil, and food matrices; regulatory bodies undertaking compliance testing; and any analytical facility where background PFAS contamination could compromise results or regulatory submissions.

Facility Expansion Doubles Production Capacity at Widnes Site
Waternation Scientific has completed a significant capital investment programme at its Heron Business Park facility in Widnes, Cheshire, delivering a doubling of production and bottling capacity to meet growing demand from customers across the UK and mainland Europe.
The expansion, which was completed in December 2025, includes the installation of additional high-capacity bottling lines, an extended cleanroom manufacturing area, and upgraded purification infrastructure to support increased throughput without any compromise to product quality or batch consistency.
What's Changed
New ISO 14644 Class 7 cleanroom production suite added
Second high-speed bottling line now operational
Expanded purified water generation capacity
Additional cold-store and logistics handling space
Enhanced in-line QC monitoring and environmental controls
What This Means for Customers
Increased capacity means improved lead times and greater stock availability across our standard product range. Customers requiring large-volume or urgent orders will benefit from greater scheduling flexibility, and the expanded facility will support the introduction of new product formats and grades planned for 2026.
Our commitment to quality remains unchanged — every batch produced in the new facility continues to be subject to the same rigorous analytical verification, certification, and traceability processes our customers rely on.
Waternation Scientific has successfully completed the renewal of its ISO 14644-1 Class 7 cleanroom certification, following independent third-party audit and particle count verification of our primary manufacturing environment.
The ISO 14644 standard defines the classification of air cleanliness in cleanrooms and associated controlled environments by particle concentration. Class 7 certification — equivalent to the former Federal Standard 209E Class 10,000 — specifies a maximum of 352,000 particles per cubic metre at 0.5 microns, making it a recognised benchmark for pharmaceutical, biotech, and high-purity manufacturing operations.
Why It Matters
For customers in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and life sciences, the environmental conditions under which reagent water is produced directly impact product quality and regulatory compliance. Our certified cleanroom provides the controlled conditions necessary to prevent contamination during the filling and packaging stages of production.
Third-party certified by an accredited inspection body
Annual particle count testing and environmental monitoring
Positive pressure gowning protocols maintained
HEPA-filtered air supply with continuous monitoring
Temperature and humidity controlled to defined limits
Our Commitment
This renewal reflects our ongoing investment in the infrastructure and quality systems required to manufacture water products that meet the most demanding purity and compliance standards. Copies of the current certification are available on request for customers requiring documentation for their own regulatory submissions.
New Bespoke Formulation Service for Pharmaceutical Clients
Waternation Scientific has launched a dedicated bespoke water formulation service for pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers who require reagent waters with specifications beyond our standard product range.
While our ASTM D1193 and EN ISO 3696 grades cover the majority of laboratory applications, some pharmaceutical manufacturing, QC, and R&D processes demand water with tightly controlled properties that fall outside standard classifications. Our bespoke service addresses this gap by offering fully customised formulations developed and produced to each customer's exact requirements.
What We Can Customise
Conductivity and resistivity to defined target ranges
pH-adjusted waters with specific buffer capacity
Modified TOC limits for ultra-sensitive applications
Endotoxin and bioburden control to pharmacopoeial limits
Custom pack sizes, labelling, and CoA format
Waters compliant with USP, EP, BP, and JP specifications
How It Works
The process begins with a technical consultation to define your specification requirements, intended application, and regulatory context. Our technical team will then develop a formulation proposal, produce development batches for analytical verification, and agree a qualification and release protocol before routine supply commences.
The service is available to pharmaceutical manufacturers, contract laboratories, medical device companies, and research organisations. Development timelines and minimum order quantities vary depending on specification complexity.
